Play Therapy Manchester Services
Following the referral process, the therapist will design a bespoke therapy plan, informed by therapeutic objectives, in collaboration with school staff and parent/carer(s). The following are examples of interventions which may be offered:
Play & Creative Arts Therapy
Utilising PTUK's Integrative Holistic Model of Play Therapy, this child-centred, 1:1 clinical intervention is designed to support children who present with moderate-to-complex needs, using play and creative arts to explore feelings, resolve conflict and improve social integration. A broad range of mediums, including art supplies, clay, sand, musical instruments, movement equipment, toys/figures and puppets, are provided and the approach may be more directive, where applicable.
Therapeutic Play
A predominantly non-directive 1:1 service for children who may be considered relatively well-adjusted, presenting with less complex needs, such as low self-esteem or anxiety, rather than deep-rooted psychological trauma, offering a space for emotional exploration within a safe space. The same range of equipment as Play & Creative Arts Therapy are provided, but the broad approach and therapeutic objectives may differ.
Music-centred Sessions
Underpinned by the same therapeutic principles, but tailored to more musically-inclined children, these 1:1 sessions offer the opportunity to express and explore, through the mediums of instrumental/vocal improvisation and music-making/songwriting, within a predominantly music-centred space.
The Process
Following referral, Play Therapy Manchester provides initial consultation meetings with teachers and parent/carer(s), to gather background data, generate therapeutic objectives and provide additional information about services, ensuring every child receives the most appropriate therapeutic intervention tailored to their needs.

This process is tailored in collaboration with school staff and parent(s)/carer(s) to meet each child’s unique needs. The therapist is required to attend regular clinical supervision throughout the course of work and maintain accurate records to inform the end report.
Fees
Full day package: 260 GBP (4 Clinical Hours + add-ons*)
Half day package: 140 GBP (2 Clinical Hours + add-ons*)
*The daily rates include the following add-ons: initial teacher and parent/carer(s) consultations, review/end meetings, initial assessment, SDQ and SEPACTO data collection, therapy reports, ongoing liaison with staff and travel (within South Manchester)
